New Hampshire's Bling Bling Ring Fling

I read an article today about a housepainter in Hollis NH who apparently stole a ring, worth about $7,000. He must have been a few sandwiches short of a picnic, because he thought swallowing the ring at the police station was a good idea.

Well, he was taken to a local hospital, and it was decided a medical necessity to perform surgery to get the ring out. It's a good guess that the surgery probably cost $30,000 or more....

And so, I want to know who pays for the surgery?
